Hopefully I will get home in time to record it.

Did you get a chance to see Washing Journal this morning? The president of the Brady campaign and Andrew Dysart were on talking about the usually. It was pretty good. At least they weren’t saying BS like arming teenagers.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see it. I am not sure that it would have been too fair having a student debate a professional debater, though I have posted a link to Andrew discussing the issue before.

Interesting material, and the analysis--or is it mere provocation--in Freakanomics always bothered me. Some of this stuff touches on hot buttons. Guns and abortion, oh, my.

I thought the big issue with guns was the incidental stuff like kids hurting themselves with found weapons, fights becoming serious, and suicides being far too easy to commit, thus guns are related to a complex range of social issues besides attack and defense scenarios.

With abortion it seems like back alley abortions and foreign providers demonstrated how the market routes around the kind of social engineering as you seem to be endorsing. This is very similar to the Drug War which has resulted in strong drugs being readily available and cheap.

Thanks for the interesting discussion in any case.

Saw your talk on CSPAN. I enjoyed it. Your point of view was very intriguing and entertaining for me. I will certainly consider reading your book after watching. Did you name your book to lampoon the recently popular freakanomics book ?

Dear Anonymous:

I actually didn't have anything to do with picking the title for the book. The Publisher picked it. It is apparently not uncommon for publishers to control actually everything that is on the dust jacket. I take complete responsibility for everything inside the covers, but they controlled the outside.

Thanks for your comment, and I do think that this is the best book that I have written.
