The Stone Age Diet

A friend of mine and an economist who I have admired since I was a graduate student has been getting a lot of attention for his work on diet. His name is Art DeVany. It is pretty amazing that an economist would have something to say about diet, but here is a clip of an extremely popular show in Britain discussing Art's arguments.

Well now, who would've thought that eating like a stone aged denizen could be good for you?

Not for me though, not enough junk food in that sort of diet...

Yet its better, much better than being a vegetarian though...

I have also heard this called the Paleo Diet. Considering "modern man" ate like that for thousands of years, longer than modern historical man, you'd think it worked well. You'd think our vegan friends would be happy about it as with such a diet for the populace as a whole, the carbon tax base would sky rocket, based on taxing cattle and pigs for their carbon emissions. They'd have all the tax money they'd want for their BS socialist programs... :) Pardon the sarcasm. It would rather seem they want to tax us out of eating meat and driving gas powered vehicles. After they are successful, what then? They'd have no tax base. Anyway, the Paleo Diet does work, but t is a bit boring and takes getting used to.

Maybe. But emember to check back with this guy in fve years. Short term, almost any "diet" will work - witness the Twenties fad Grapefruit Diet.

Heck, I once lost fifty pounds in three months: after being drafted, I was a daly visitor at the base hosital and, owing to a temporary shortage of non-coms, was also used as [emergency] night CQ for a new company area still under construction. As a result, I could only make it to one meal per day - breakfast, typically one hard-boiled egg and a glass of milk. Once processed out, I gained back thirty pounds in about four months - and stabilised there for over twenty years. Which, BTW, is part of why I question the "you gain weight because of what you eat" creed, surely if that were true I woud have continued gaining weight.
