Is it contributing to theft to point this out?

Apparently one can read the WSJ without paying a fee for the pages. The process is described here.

Pointing it out is probably not an act of theft. Contribution? Hard to say. It is now public knowledge, and I am not an attorney.

However, under the DMCA, to engage in the described activity is, as it is copyrighted material that is sold as a service to subscribers.

In my opinion, hackers do perform a service to software writers, as they find the flaws in the program, and the vendor then improves the product. Microsoft comes to mind here. Right along with a few other very large companies.
