Interesting interactive graphics job gains and losses in large metropolitan areas in Canada and US

The only places that seems to be have any job growth are some parts of Canada and the very Southern part of Texas. The US has had a much bigger stimulus, but has had a much bigger percentage drop in jobs.

Here is also an interactive that shows the change in state unemployment rates over time. See also here for the exact numbers by state.

Dr. Lott,

I noticed that graphic says Aug 2001-Aug 2002. Was that supposed to be 08-09?

Thanks. :)

There is no problem. Just drag the date bar and the date at the bottom will change.

Very interesting.

Has anyone compared how partisan the stimulus is in both countries, as well as the percentage that goes to infrastructure? I think our in Canada is fairly 'neutral'.

Our PM has his masters in economics.

I believe the reason why Saskatchewan is doing so well is they dumped the socialists for a business friendly government a couple years ago.
