Another shooting in a gun free zone at the University of Alabama at Huntsville

From the AP:

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A biology professor at the University of Alabama's Huntsville campus was charged with murder late Friday in the shooting deaths of three fellow biology professors at the campus.

Several pieces of information indicate that students, faculty, and staff are banned from having guns on university property (here and here).

I was waiting for you to update on my hometown Alma Mater.

Just to clear things up, this was a "gun-free" zone by university policy: Alabama has no law prohibiting carrying a firearm onto a college campus. It's legal to do so concealed with a carry permit (or openly without one if you so dare). But that doesn't exempt you from disciplinary action by the university if you're a student, faculty, or staff. That's probably a contributing factor.

New reports I've seen don't indicate how the Huntsville shooter was stopped. Presumably she just stopped? Collapsed? Maybe dropped the gun? I don't know. Also, the venue was a private meeting room with just a few people around. I understand the preventive argument for concealed carry when it comes to public shootings. The preventive argument seems weaker for what happened Friday.
